Job Description
Hecate Grid is seeking a Senior Manager of Origination to join our growing battery storage IPP team in Chicago. This key role will lead responses to energy storage RFPs and bi-laterally originate and manage offtake opportunities. This is a high visibility role in a fast-growing company. Interested individuals possessing experience with renewable energy project development, familiarity with regulatory frameworks, and a strong technical understanding of batteries are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate has direct experience in renewable energy finance.
Responsibilities
- Lead responses to energy storage RFPs and bi-laterally originate and manage potential offtake opportunities
- Frequent travel across the United States, working with local stakeholders including Community Choice Aggregators, local governments, economic development entities, permitting authorities, utilities, and others
- Interact with disparate stakeholder groups and negotiate agreements that allow projects to proceed successfully with minimal exposure to project risks
- Communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively
- Monitor trends in the power, utilities, and energy storage sectors to alert development and analytical teams of new opportunities or changes to internal strategy.
- Work with senior finance team members to develop internal processes for project development, accounting and M&A functions
- Work with EPC and asset management team members to ensure contract continuity
- Assist asset management teams to perform ad hoc reports and analyses of project performance and contractual compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of power and utilities development experience with exposure to renewable utility scale energy storage
- Strong knowledge of project finance, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in CAISO and ERCOT systems sourcing/closing/originating offtake agreements.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to engage key project stakeholders and offtakers
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining the highest level of contractual integrity and detail.
- Excellent written communication skills; experience in articulating data through presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint is a plus. •
