Job Description

  • Hecate Grid is seeking a Director of Finance to join our growing battery storage IPP team in Chicago. The Director will be involved in a variety of capital transactions including equity raises, project level debt, tax equity and M&A. The ideal candidate has direct experience in renewable energy finance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead debt and equity raise transactions including materials preparation, due diligence, structuring, negotiations, and ongoing compliance.
  • Partner with development team to provide guidance on M&A.
  • Refine tax equity models, including adaptions for different financial structures, and different tax jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with team members on internal financial models including review of capital expenditures, operating cost, energy price curves for wind and solar production, and battery dispatch models.
  • Assist in the financing of projects by creating marketing materials, facilitating investor due diligence requests, and assisting in the analysis of financing options.
  • Monitor trends in the power, utilities, and energy storage sectors to alert development and analytical teams of new opportunities or changes to internal strategy.
  • Work with senior finance team member to develop internal processes for project development, accounting and M&A functions.
  • Assist asset management teams to perform ad hoc reports and analyses of project performance and contractual compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor;s degree in Finance., Accounting, Business or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-10 year of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably within the renewable energy or power sector.
  • Prior experience with tax equity strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project finance, financial modeling, and valuation techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate financial date into actionable insights.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining the highest level of financial integrity.
  • Extremely proficient in creating and managing financial models in Microsoft Excel; applicants will be requested to demonstrate as part of the interview process.
  • Excellent written communications skills; experience in articulating data through presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, contemporary/unstructured environment.
